De Stijl: NEW BROWN SOUND
In today’s music landscape, it seems that the independent artist has never been stronger. There was once a time when struggling artists of color from around the world were at a disadvantage. A lack of resources stunted many. Studio time was a dream and those that managed to save were on a ramen diet until their work managed to break through to the masses. The internet and a number of crucial programs gave much needed power to the people. Artists are now able to explore, collaborate and experiment freely without pressure or the fear of failure. The result is a new wave of indie artists of color that are not only thriving, but setting trends and influencing the mainstream.
This night of dancing is dedicated to them.
We’ll still play plenty of your favorite jams so come prepared to dance.
