The Local Show‘s Artists to Watch is a showcase of 10 of the best up-and-coming talent of 2016, presented across two stages at the The Cedar Cultural Center on the West Bank of Minneapolis. Curated by music writer and Local Show host Andrea Swensson, Artists to Watch will provide fans with a unique opportunity to sample performances both inside and outside the Cedar, and will take advantage of the venue’s recently renovated outdoor plaza.
The event was inspired by a blog post published by Swensson on the Local Current Blog last year titled “10 new Twin Cities bands to watch,” which local artist manager Corey Bracken turned into an event at The Cedar called Minnesota Next. Bands from across genres and scenes came together to meet, perform and support one another, deepening their connection to the larger Minnesota music community. Bracken will be involved in the Local Show’s Artists to Watch showcase, and will curate a group of visual artists, Lara Cornell, Jordan Hamilton and Christopher Selleck, displaying work at the event.
As with last year’s event, this year’s showcase will bring together artists who specialize in many different genres and styles to give attendees an opportunity to discover new talent.
The Wurst Food Truck will be on site as a food option.
