The good ones are hard to come by. Friendships are important; old or new they shouldn’t be neglected. Anybody who knows me knows that I think the world of my friends, but sometimes life get in the way of friendships. I’ve been guilty of all these things!! That’s why I’m writing about it. I had a long conversation with a good friend recently and she called me out on this. I won’t say that I’m not busy; I work and go to school full-time. So my time being occupied is justified, but I should always make time for those who mean the most to me. I know we have all heard cliches about friendships like: “Friendship is a two-way street” and “To have to a friend you to be a friend”. These statements couldn’t be more relevant to this situation. I know that life gets in the way sometimes, but don’t get into the habit of saying:
I’ve been busy
I don’t have time
I was waiting for you that’s why I didn’t
I thought you were busy
Let’s make an effort to keep our friendship strong *but do nothing*
…and the lists goes on. Let’s make an effort to keep our friends and those we care about close to us. I try to make an effort to call/text my friends if I haven’t heard from them in a while. Of course I guilt trip them*do not be like me*. If I don’t, as I mentioned earlier they will be sure to call me out on it. Make the conscious effort to show those you care for that you are there for them. Trust me they will appreciate it. 😉
