Hey Lovelites,
Here is some new music from David Maxwell. David is an up and coming Minneapolis artist, he has a very different approach to his music. He raps but he also does melodies and is heavily involved in the production of his music. Maxwell doesn’t put his music in a box; he experiments with different styles and genres of music which makes his sound very unique. He is heavily influenced by contemporary jazz and blues which is especially evident on the song Reality Check.
On the song Reality Check, David speaks on some of harshness of his reality over some subtle piano keys and drums. He tethers back and forth with jazz and hip-hop sounds throughout this song especially between the hook and verse. The same themes echo in the song, Champagne Water. I like this song a lot because it catches your attention from the start with the alluring intro. The contrast between Maxwell’s rhymes and the female vocals give the song such a rich and multi-layered sound.
Check out Maxwell’s song below and be sure to check out his soundcloud for more new songs as he is currently working on a project. Let me know what you think of Maxwell and his music; comment below or tweet me TLO (@thelitestyle).
