Minneapolis DJ, producer, celebrity make-up and hair artist Adora Tokyo released her new EP Lies Taste Good today. Adora debuted some of her music a few weeks ago at The New Griots Festivals, where she also taught an amazing community class that I was very fortunate to attend. She performed some of this new music at the Tigress event last week that I also was in attendance for. When explaining the concept behind the sound on her new EP Adora says she is very drawn to electronic music, it is her sound and she loves drums and synths. Adora doesn’t like to be put in a box and it is very evident in everything she does; she is very open, expressive, and BOLD and so is her music. I have been looking forward to hearing this project in it’s entirety since she teased a few songs at The New Griots festival. Adora shared with crowd at the festival that she recorded and produced this EP by herself on her laptop and I must say that it is impeccably done. She is very proud of this body of work; the few times I have seen her talk about and perform songs from this EP she has been beaming love and light. When you listen to this EP you’ll understand why she feels that way.
