Tinashe – Aquarius (Album Review)

Hey Lovelites!

I’m very thrilled to be reviewing Tinashe’s album. I like Tinashe for a lot of reasons, one of them being that her name! I had a really close friend in high school who had a cousin (who was also a friend) named Tinashe. She also loved to sing and dance, but unfortunately she passed away. RIP Tinashe! The name always brings back fond memories for me. Now back to this Tinashe! If you don’t know Tinashe by now then you must living under a rock. Her song “2 On”  featuring SchoolBoy Q was one of the songs of the summer! Tinashe is an R&B singer-songer from L.A.  I heard about Tinashe the first time she visited Power 105.1’s morning show, “The Breakfast Club” last year. After that I did my googles on her and found that she had 3 mix tapes and a few other songs out. I checked them out and I thought very highly of her music and voice as well. The girl can sing! Since then I have kept my eye out for any new music or features from her and I’m glad to be reviewing her debut album “Aquarius”.

This album was released on October 7th (about a week ago) =), I had too. As always I had the album a few days prior to it’s release, S/O to my connect. I have had more than enough time to listen to this album in it’s entirety multiple times and I have really enjoyed it. The album is very cohesive: great songs, interludes, production, and vocals. The album was very diversified in the sense that it wasn’t all ballads; there were also some up tempo and faster paced songs like  2 On, All Hands on Deck, and How Many Times (Ft. Future). I think the album has a good balance of sounds. They weren’t a lot of features on this album, which is best for a debut album. But the features on the album are really good and she isn’t overshadowed on those tracks. I viewed this album as a musical journey and it evolved more as I made my way through the album. Tinashe is off to a good start on building a strong and reputable music catalog and career. I look forward to her future projects and hopefully seeing her on tour soon.
