The first time I heard Nicki Minaj was the song Kill The DJ off of her Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape. It was blared over speakers in the basement of a house I was at a party at. I’ll always remember this first time I heard a youthful, relevant, young lady rap with such force and command that kind of control. Technically her second mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty is held in great regard by Nicki’s rap fans. In recent years when she strayed form her New York rap sound, true fans have always referred back to hot tracks like Easy, Go Hard, and one of her best songs ever Itty Bitty Piggy off Beam Me Up Scotty. These tracks and this mixtape as a whole solidified Minaj in the rap game. As far as mixtapes go Nicki filled the tape with notable features from label mates Lil’ Wayne and Drake, as well as Busta Rhymes, and Gucci Mane.
