The Pinkprint Album Preview – (Onika Appreciation Week)

Hey Lovelites,

FINALLY, the long awaited Pinkprint album from Nicki Minaj is here. After being pushed back last month, a plethora of singles have been dropped and Nicki took to SNL to promote her third studio album, The Pinkprint Album is being released tomorrow.

A quick recap: The leading single off the album, released way back in May, Pills ‘n Potions was met with much criticism but had radio success due to Minaj’s heavy pop following. But fans of Nicki’s rapping wanted more. Following the single’s release we were blessed with a few features and freestyles to keep us in anticipation for The Pinkprint’s release. Flawless (Remix), Bang Bang, Low, Touchin Lovin, and No Love (Remix), filled in the spots where Pills ‘n Potions fell short. The second single Anaconda reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. I have heard a lot of feedback from the people about this record; the rapping is on point but too slow, the beat goes in, but the buildup falls short, sounds good in the whip but not in the club, etc. etc. None the less Anaconda was Nicki’s highest charting song and has earned a Grammy nomination. Onika has dropped two more singles from the album, Only featuring everyone on YMCMB Chris Brown, Drake, and Lil Wayne and Bed of Lies ft. Skylar Grey (a Litestyle fave).

This album comes at a defining moment for Ms. Minaj. Her label is publicly falling apart and other women in the game are coming for her spot, and no Igloo Australia isn’t one of them. Nicki has consistently balanced her rap followers and pop crew to maximize her paycheck. I believe The Pinkprint will do just that. The official tracklist is below.

Let us know what you think about the record. Then check out our review later this week.
